Halliburton has a backlog
of 100,000 applicants seeking jobs in Iraq - despite a spate of attacks on civilians
there, the company's chief executive said yesterday. "We have over 100,000
applications on file today for people wanting jobs in that particular theater.
We are still sending 200 to 300 people per week to Iraq, to Kuwait," said
Dave Lesar, who succeeded Vice President Dick Cheney as the head of Halliburton.
Lesar said that reports of company workers leaving
Iraq to return to the U.S. because of the heightened hostilities were overblown.
